Sony had their release 28th of july. Showcasing the new A7S III. Its been long awaited and finally its coming! It will be in stores from september. If you want it, you should pre-order it now. Its going to be a long line to get one.
Will it be better than the A7S II? Is there any reason to upgrade?
Sony chose to not do 8K or even 6K as Canon R5, but stayed with a 12 megapixel sensor as the predecessor. They made the 4K modes really usable in professional environments. Photos on the other hand, not so usable for professional work.

Sony’s alpha 7S Mark III is essentially a native 4K camera with impressive video specs and a new user interface. It can capture UHD 4K footage at up to 120p in 10-bit 4:2:2 encoding and promises 16-bit Raw video output into a Atomos or a Black magic recorder
For the still photos, it’s only 12MP, which will restrict the usability of the pictures. The color dept and quality of stills will be very good and clear, but to be using for professional work, when you need to print pictures and show them on a big scale, this 12MP sensor doesn’t do enough. 12mp will be more than enough for social media and for digital use. But more than that I would consider a higher MP camera sensor.

Top Features:
- 12MP BSI CMOS sensor
- Bionz XR processor
- On-sensor phase detection
- ISO 80-102,400 (expandable to 40-409,600)
- 9.44M dot EVF with 0.91x magnification
- 4K video at up to 120p, 60p for ‘at least an hour’
- 16-bit Raw video output at up to 60p
- 10-bit 4:2:2 internal capture (in codecs including H.265 and All-I H.264)
- Fully articulating LCD
- 5-axis in-body stabilization with Steady shot active mode
- Twin card slots that each accept either SD or CFexpress Type A

The Sony a7S III will be priced at $3500. This is a bit more expensive than the 2015’s Mark II but still lower than its closest competitor, the Panasonic Lumix DC-S1H.
